I bet you didn’t know *this* about salads 👇🏼

🥗 Salads can be chock full of healthy ingredients. But, did you know that a lot of nutrients are fat-soluble? That means that unless you’re eating them with fat your body can’t utilize them to their full potential! This includes vitamins D, K, A, and E as well as some phytochemicals like carotenoids. So that fat-free or low- fat dressing at your supermarket will actually prevent your body from experiencing all the amazing benefits of a beautiful and colorful salad!

That’s why I’m sharing my tips and tricks for simple and delicious homemade salad dressings. This is truly an easy and effective way to elevate your wellness. Plus you avoid the shelf-stable and highly inflammatory oils found in most pre-packaged dressings.

Confession time 👇🏼 We all have celebrity cr Confession time 👇🏼

We all have celebrity crushes and the same is also true for me in the health sphere! Here are a few of my favorite teachers in the holistic health and food world:

@bewellbykelly was instrumental in me learning about the physiological process of hunger, how to eat to satiety, and maintain blood sugar balance. She changed everything for me in the best possible way.

@maxlugavere really brought the science and simplified it into actionable steps. He’s an inspiration to me and I love that he was inspired by his mom’s journey.

@drmarkhyman is a genius. I love every book he writes, and his instagram account is one of my favorites to follow.

@thefoodbabe is changing or food, literally. Her activism has resulted in so much positive change such as Starbucks removing caramel color (a known carcinogen) from its drinks. She’s feisty and I love it.

@simplyrealhealth is proof that healthy eating doesn’t need to be complicated and doesn’t mean spending hours in the kitchen. Her cookbooks are awesome.

@daniellewalker is who I recommend whenever someone is suffering from an autoimmune disease. Her own journey to health is an inspiration.

Similar to me (New England girl over here), a lot Similar to me (New England girl over here), a lot of oils don’t do well in the heat!

If you’re cooking at high temps the best oils to use are:
🥑 avocado oil
🧈 ghee/grass-fed butter
🥥 coconut oil (love this oil for Asian and curry dishes)

For lower temp cooking and cold use reach for:
🥑 extra virgin avocado oil
🫒 extra virgin olive oil

This is based on the oils’ smoke points (literally the temperature at which an oil begins to smoke). Once an oil begins to smoke it is considered “unstable” and it can release inflammatory free radicals. If you are cooking and notice your pan is smoking, turn down the heat!
